Nathaniel completed a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Notre Dame Australia and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law. He was admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2024.
During his university studies, Nathaniel demonstrated consistent academic excellence, receiving awards in criminal law and advocacy. He also gained valuable practical insight into the criminal justice system through his work as a vacation clerk at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for Western Australia and as a volunteer with the Legal Aid Criminal Appeals Team.
Since his admission, Nathaniel has practised exclusively in criminal defence. He understands the serious consequences that criminal charges can have on a person’s liberty, livelihood, reputation, and future. This is what drives his commitment to providing careful advice, thorough preparation, and strong representation for every client.
Nathaniel enjoys the pressure and responsibility of courtroom advocacy. He is drawn to criminal law because of its high stakes and the importance of ensuring that every client’s case is properly prepared and persuasively presented.
At Perrella Legal, Nathaniel assists in the preparation of written sentencing submissions for serious indictable matters. He also prepares applications for spent conviction orders, removal of lifetime driver’s licence disqualifications, and extraordinary driver’s licence applications.
Nathaniel regularly appears as counsel in the Magistrates Court, where he presents pleas in mitigation of sentence and makes applications for bail and variations of bail. He also appears as counsel in the District Court for sentence mentions and trial listing hearings.
Nathaniel is a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association of Western Australia and the Law Society of Western Australia.
Outside of his legal practice, Nathaniel serves as a field umpire in the Perth Football League.
